  • Racing "Rollers"

As I write this, Ironman Louisville is fast approaching and thus gave me the idea of talking about racing hills.

First, let's break down two basic types of hill courses. There are the "rollers" and then there are the "long & steady" courses. For this article, we'll talk about "rollers" and define them as small hills consecutively one after another. Most of the time, these hills are not too steep. How should we race these? I see two basic strategies that can achieve the same time but have different consequences for a triathlete.

Only a week or so left over here in Iraq. We're all excited to get back to our families and the D.C. Metro area.

Well, once again MAP has helped me achieve outstanding results.

Earlier this month, I ran a 33:22 5-mile run, the fastest time I have run since I was a 2LT at Fort Benning, GA and weighed 195#. This is the fastest time I've run in 8 years despite weighing 20 pounds more than I did in the Fall of 2002. I am also now consistently hitting 20+ pull-ups during fitness assessments, the most I've ever been able to consistently perform.

    6 Key Facts About Protein

Few nutrients are as misunderstood as protein. See if you know these six key facts about this essential nutrient for your body.

Protein Makes Up Your Body's Structure

Protein is an essential component of the diet and helps your body repair muscle, grow tissue, regulate hormones, control metabolism, defend against illness, and more.

Protein is what makes up your ligaments, tendons, muscles, hair, nails, skin, teeth, tissue, organs, and bones. About half of the non-water mass of your body is made up of protein.

Since most of the body's proteins are continually broken down, the body needs to manufacture thousands of proteins every day to replace them.
