Sarah Armstrong - Hurst Gymnastics Team and USA Gymnastics
This is the start of a weekly gymnastics journal I will be keeping. I will talk about my weekly training sessions, competitions and any camps I attend.
-----------------------
Monday 3/13/06: On beam I had 10 routines and the last 4 had to be in a row. That’s what we usually do but this time it had a twist to it. If you fell of on the 10th routine then you had to go back to 6 and this time you fell of on the 8th then you had to go back to 5. Then we did bars. Bars are my favorite event. I started out with 5 straight arm Kips. Once I was done with that I had to do 5 full routines. Then when you had done 3 you had to show her your last 2.Now it was time for conditioning. We had 100 roll-up jumps first. Next, 6 sets of 8 handstand push-ups. Last, we had 400 crunches.
Tuesday 3/14/06: Starting on the floor we started out with Front handsprings. Then we did 3 lines of 2 back handsprings. Next it was the same thing with our dive rolls. Afterwards I did Vault. We had to do 6 front handsprings over the Tongue or Horse as most people call it. Next we had to go back to floor and do 3 routines. Finally I had to go to Bars. I had to do 5 kips then 5 routines. For conditioning we had to run around the floor and over the beams 15 times. Then we had 300 crunches. Since I got everything done that day I was able to do whatever I wanted to for 15 minutes. The people that had not done everything that day didn’t get to do what I got to do. The whole time I did front tucks of the spring board. That was a fun day.
Thursday 3/16/06: First I went to bars and there we had 6 routines. I got through with everything on bars. Afterwards I had to go to vault. On vault we also had to do 6 vaults and show her the last two. Last we went to beam and had to do 5 routines in a row which is very difficult. Finally we had conditioning to do. We first did 200 pushups. Next were 10 lines of lunges which hurt your legs badly. Last we had to walk across the beam on our hands. That was what a hard day I had at gym. Master Amino Acid Pattern (MAP) really keeps me going through theses tough work out days. I can feel the extra edge it gives me. Normally on the day after this I would be extremely sore.
