From Adam in Reno : Should I do my long run the day after my long bike each week? I have been doing this but find the day after a 6 hour bike my run is pretty awful and I am always concerned I'll get hurt. Do you ever suggest that the long run be after a few days of lesser activity so it is more likely to be a good paced run?

Dave's Response:

Adam,

Yes, yes, yes space ‘em out (2-4 days) if you have the time.

Remember that the long bike and run should be run at a higher pace as your fitness improves. Recognizing that a hard long bike and run will draw on your reserves, consider a 2-3 time per month longer session of each discipline rather than a weekly long day per discipline.

Good luck,

Dave
