From Conrad in Northern Ca:
I have been taking MAP. I am 63 yrs. old. Three weeks ago while exercising on my bicycle I hit a patch of black ice here in Northern Ca. and fell causing a fracture to the Trochanter bone just below the hip. It has been pinned and I am in recovery. Any suggestions on ways to expedite the healing process?

The Muscles and bone are still in low grade pain. I am getting weekly P.T.

Thanks for any help,
Conrad

From Dave Scott:
Bone healing is a complex question, however there are several components that will enhance bone integrity. I am assuming that your physical therapist is doing a strengthening program that not only enhances the musculature around the joint but equally important is to regain the strength in your hip, glutes and quadriceps. This should be a combination of stabilization, balance and strengthening exercises. The atrophy of these muscles after a major accident is shocking and I'm sure that you have witnessed this "wasting away" of muscle tissue. Obviously, continue with your exercises and MAP ---- forever!!

For recovery 10 tablets 2-3 times a day are best.

With that said, the second half of the equation is to promote and maintain optimal bone and joint health. Recognize that Calcium works synergistically with other minerals and compounds.

Following is my recommendation:

1. Take a Ca citrate supplement of 750 to 1000 mg / day at two intervals ; half in the am and half one hour before bedtime.

2. Include 600 IU's of Vitamin D with the supplement -- again half in am and half in pm.

3. Take Ca and Vit. D with Vitamin C ---250 mg both am and pm

4. Include: 3000 mg of Fish Oil, 1000 mg of Borage Seed Oil and 400 mg of Magnesium / day

5. Up your intake of Vitamin K -- cabbage, broccoli, avocado are all good sources Lastly, Ca absorption is affected by excessive amounts of caffeine, anti inflammatories, phosphate and animal proteins.

Good luck Conrad.

Best, Dave

“I've tried a lot of products in my career and few deliver what Dave Scott bikingthey promise. MAP delivers!

Within 24 hours of doing a hard workout, on MAP, my body recovers from what I have done and is ready for the next training day. This is invaluable for any athlete of any age.

MAP allows the body not only to heal, but to gain from each workout done. I feel it. I love it. I recommend it.”  - Dave Scott
