Winner at FirmMan Triathlon (women 55-59)
Dear MAP,
Hey! You did it again!
This past weekend, I competed in the Firm Man Half Iron (Narragansett, Rl) as a training race for upcoming Kona (one month from today. ...YIKES!). I won my division (women 55-59) by over an hour and felt GREAT!
I've been using MAP tabs faithfully during training/racing. With Kona coming soon, I decided to try (also) incorporating a dose of MAP within my Half-Iron race, taking 8 tabs as I ran out of T2. Even though I was feeling good, and right on track with my goals from the start, I was really amazed with how strong I began to feel at mile 9 of the 13.1 mile run ! My run was really just kicking in (Ironman style)!
Never before have I begun to feel stronger after 9 miles! Generally, fatigue has set in, and I'm wondering how I'll ever make it through the rest of the many miles. You can bet I will be adding MAP tabs to my transition bag (and maybe even special needs bag) in Kona!

Winner at WildBear Triathlon
(women 55-59)
Dear MAP,
I am a 56-year old athlete, who only began competing about 10 years ago. What fun I've had in these past 10 years discovering the world of endurance sports (triathlon, kayak racing, nordic ski racing)!
It didn't take long for me to realize that I had a lot of “SISU” from my Finnish heritage. Since my very first little running race, I've progressed to multisport endurance events, having completed 5 Ironman distance races in the past 5 years. On October 13, 2007, I look forward to competing in the Ironman World Championships in Kona, having won my division (and setting a new course record) at IM Wisconsin '06.
In the past several years, I have won my division in every triathlon I've competed in, and have occasionally had an outright win for women. I won the overall Maine State Bicycle Time Trial Championship last year, and also set a new course record for my age group at The Mount Washington Bicycle Hillclimb.
My recipe for success has a key ingredient, and that has been “RECOVERY”. Without proper recovery, I couldn't possibly keep going day in and day out. MAP has been an amazing element in my daily workout plan. I have faithfully taken 6-8 tabs each morning, before workouts/ races. It wasn't until I was plagued by a medical hamstring injury, that I decided to try using MAP as a post-workout recovery tool as well. I raced hard one day, then had a mega-workout the following. My hamstring was very sore, as were both quads. Rather than my usual recovery drink, I took 8 MAP tabs immediately after the workout (along with some pretzels and the remainder of my electrolyte drink). Because I was experiencing such soreness, I feared I wouldn't be able to even walk for a week. However, I woke to find myself in nearly perfect condition, raring to go again! The hamstring issue was a non-issue, and my quads didn't have a hint of soreness! Amazing. Really amazing. Sure, I may be tired and wasted after intense workouts, but MAP gives back quickly, all that I need to get going again on a productive workout or successful race.
Thanks, MAP!
