| Team MAP's Cherie Gruenfeld does it again….Another IM Victory and new age group record at IM Arizona…...
The 2006 racing season for me was an athlete's worst nightmare. A bike crash in the spring resulted in injuries that kept me grounded through the fall. My physical activity was very limited, but the one thing I continued was my Master Amino Acid Pattern (MAP) regime hoping to be strong when the time came to get back.
In late October I started a Base Building program and set my sights on Ironman Arizona in April '07. I approached my training knowing that I'd not only been relatively inactive for six months but am at the age where I need to include additional recovery in my training plan.
As I proceeded with my plan, I found that I was able to recover more quickly from workouts and from the accumulated load of big weeks far quicker than I had expected. I attribute this to my continued use of MAP.
Last weekend I won my age group at Ironman Arizona , setting a new age group course record. It feels great to be "back in the game" and will count on MAP to keep me at the top of my game.
