MAP.  It is not only for training

I began to use MAP when I read an article in the Triathlete magazine.  Here they mentioned that this supplement not only would help you when training, but it would also help to recover from injuries and avoid them as well. Convinced, I began taking MAP...

Two weeks ago I completed my 54th IM.  I have not had any injuries in the last three years, although I confess I have had some excesses as I completed 10 Ironman distance races in a 12 month period, and two IM within 6 days on two different continents.

This article is not only focused on my using MAP during training periods. Last week I was traveling in China  for 10 days on a business trip, where we were part of a commercial mission with the President of Mexico and industrial/commerce chambers of Mexico . The agendas for this business tour was very tight, We had a 23 hour flight with a time change of 12 hours.  My day started at 3:30 am with checking and answering e-mails, since in my office was the afternoon of the day before.  

Around 6.00 am, local time, I took some time to go to the GYM, have a light and quick breakfast and be ready at 7:30 for the beginning of a hard working day.  Some days we spent 5 hours or more in a bus as we had to visit several important cities to meet with China 's Governmental authorities. On some days our meals were plentiful but on others we had not time to stop and eat. Under these special circumstances, it is impossible to keep a diet, and I was completely sure I was gaining or losing weight. I was concerned about my muscle mass, which I did not want to lose it as it would be very hard to recover.

My strategy was to keep my body well fed.  As soon as I got up I took 5 MAP pills, and an apple or some fruit.  At noon, another 5 MAP pills. If no dinner, I had some juice, tea, a granola bar and my 5 pills. During days with lunch included I took my 5 MAP pills 30 minutes before eating. You never know how many proteins would be served.  It was really difficult to identify what we were eating, and we did not want to find out…..  Dishes looked very odd…

 My daily MAP intake was about 10 to 15 pills.  I am really surprised, when I checked my weight on my Tanita scale, I have lost 2 lb and no muscle mass loss reported. This was a stressful trip.   I am completely sure that if I would not have taken MAP I would have gained weight, mostly fat, and lost muscle mass. MAP is not just for training, its great nutrition for daily use.
