| New Master Amino Acid Pattern (MAP) Team Member: Discovery Channel's Michael Barry
"Since I have started using MAP, I have noticed improved recovery between training sessions. In the last month I have been doing large training loads and the benefits have been noticeable.
I look forward to using MAP through the demanding racing season." - Michael Barry

Since January 1st I have been training and racing intensely, building the foundation for the coming season. Cycling is a sport that requires the athlete to ride for two to seven hours a day, in the mountains, against the wind, and in the rain, at high intensities for hours at a time. We break down muscle and deplete our body daily so good recovery is necessary to maintain our fitness and physique.
With MAP I have been able to handle high workloads day after day and have been able to ride the fine line between being too tired to train and fit and strong.
During the month of January we, the Discovery Channel Cycling Team, spent two weeks in Solvang, California training as a group for half of the day, often leaving in the morning and coming home as the sun was setting. Our training camps are intense with hour long climbs repeated to simulate the workloads we will need to handle in the races. As athletes with the innate desire to compete, we race each other to the tops of the hills, to the city limit signs, and arrive home, our legs aching thinking of nothing other than a good meal and nap.
A month later, I was racing at the Tour of California, a weeklong race from San Francisco to Los Angeles. The Tour of California was my first race of the year. The speeds were high from the start and we were on the attack everyday. In a stage race, recovery is key and after having supplemented my diet with MAP for a month prior and then again during the entire Tour, I felt I improved every day, getting stronger with each stage, and gaining power with each attack.
In the coming weeks the workload will increase as I enter the Classics, the toughest one day races on the calendar.
