Captain Ed's Journal
December has brought about more change for me and my wife (and the little one on the way...). We left sunny Savannah , GA and arrived to the capitol on 13 December 2008. I will be working at Ft. Myer (adjacent to Arlington National Cemetery ) for my new posting with the 3rd Infantry Regiment, the oldest unit in the Army. We are looking forward to living close to D.C. and all that it has to offer.
Over the past month, I did manage to squeeze in two races while we prepared to move. I ran a Thanksgiving Day 5k and cruised to a comfortable 19:52 finish. A couple of weeks later, I ran one of the more interesting runs that I have competed in...the Savannah Bridge Run. The run takes you through downtown Savannah , GA and then up and over the largest bridge in Savannah
(twice!) before reaching the finish line. While I am still in the building phase of my fitness (I am going to try...baby birth permitting...to run the Cherry Blossom 10 miler in April 2009), I was happy with my time of 43:43.
I felt great throughout the race other than mile 4 to mile 5 where I experienced my race 'suffering.' I came back strong from mile 5 to the finish, but I must work on my sustained endurance through the middle of the race.
December and through January will see me continue to work hard on leg strength and overall cardio endurance base in an attempt to set up for successful train up for the 10 miler in April. MAP is absolutely critical during these phases of training. I know I will be able to put in hard days of training and not miss a beat at the office or at home from residual soreness or 'achey' legs.
I would like to wish everyone at Bodyhealth Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas. Both MAP and Bodyhealth Complete + Detox continue to give me an edge over my peers in both recovery and day to day health.
Take care.
