Greetings,
Were you as shocked and disappointed as I was at
the revelation of drug use (EPO) by Hawaii Ironman
winner Nina Kraft? Drugs never promote health and
drugs are never part of the true competitive spirit of
Triathlon.
Good nutrition, proper training, restful sleep, and
good mental attitude promote health. You can rest
assured that MAP will improve your performance
using natural nutrition, and you'll never have to worry
about testing positive for some illegal substance.
Enjoy your off-season.
Best of health.

| A Word to the Wise About NSAIDS |
 |
In a study published in the November issue of
the American Journal of Sports Medicine, in 134
marathoner finishers lab tests were done pre- and
post-race to look at kidney function Thirteen percent
of runners had taken an NSAID ("non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory") in the 24 hours prior to the race.
The values for serum creatinine (P = 0.03) and serum
potassium (P = 0.007) concentrations were
significantly higher in runners who had taken an
NSAID. No athlete who had taken an NSAID had a
post-race serum creatinine concentration less than
0.09 mmol/L Conclusion: Consumption of NSAIDs in
the 24 hours prior to distance running was
associated with altered renal function.

Question for the Doc: "Will MAP help bone healing?" |
|
|
|
Dear MAP:
Q: I have been using your product now for some time
and it's awesome - matter of fact I have got a few
of my friends started on it and everyone seems to
agree with me it's a great product.
Unfortunately I broke my tibia running in September,
the doctors ended up putting in a titanium rod in the
tibia three weeks ago. Is there anything I can do to
help speed up the healing process? Also the doctor
said my bone density was a little low. Can this be
helped? Thanks,
- B.B.
A: We have seen improved bone density in women on
MAP when this has been due to protein
deficiency. The bone matrix (collagen) that supports
the mineral is protein. So using the highest quality
protein in your diet is very important.
I would recommend 10 tabs twice a day along with a
good diet including animal protein, meat, eggs,
cheeses, and fish and avoid protein powders with
whey or soy, and you will get good benefit.
