Is your exercise intense enough for benefit?

Are you short of time and wish you could still meet your fitness goals?

According to a recent study published in the Journal of Applied Physiology, ultra short very high intensity workouts paid big benefits. In the study, 23 fit men and women did an 18 mile time trial on a bicycle. They were then divided into 3 groups. Group 1 cycled 2 hours per day at a moderate pace. Group 2 cycled 10 minutes a day in one minute bursts. Group 3 did a total of two minutes a day done as four all out sprints followed by several minutes of rest. Two weeks later they repeated the time trial and all improved about the same as did their maximum oxygen uptakes.

What happens to the body in the heat?

In hot weather, body core temperature increases, skin temperature increases, and sweat increases. As a result heart rate and cardiac output increase.
