The BodyHealth Newsletter The Perfect Amino Acid Design
June 3, 2004

Greetings,

The season is well underway and I can tell from the many success stories we are receiving that MAP is helping you to maximize your potential. That is great. I recently had an antioxidant blood level checked after a hard workout and was surprised to see that it was low. Normal is above 75 and mine was 45. Be sure you take sufficient antioxidants (Vitamins C, E, A, and Lipoic Acid) after hard training along with your MAP. See the article on Lipoic acid for some more information on this valuable supplement. Antioxidants will save your cells from the oxidative damage that can occur after hard exercise. Be sure to look at the special coupon for free MAP at the bottom of the newsletter. Train safe.

  • Grand Canyon Run

I am a 52 year old female triathlete. I have done Hawaii Ironman 13 times and am doing Canada this summer. I bought a bottle of MAP and decided to try it after reading the article in Triathlete about it...

...I used it last weekend when I went Rim to Rim to Rim of the Grand Canyon. I took 3 tablets before; 3 during and 3 after the workout. I have had 2 knee surgeries and was amazed at how well my knees held up during the hike/run.

    Truly Amazing

Both my husband and I have been using Bio Build for several months now and swear by the product. It is truly amazing. - M.H.

What a great product, I'm now running injury free for the first time in a long time. Plus for both IM New Zealand and Australia this year MAP made my day much easier. After being on my feet and climbing scaffold for 19 hours I really noticed I wasn't as beat up the next day. - M.R.

    The Edge

I will be 60 years old in July, so am always looking for an edge in helping my body recover quickly from a hard workout and get ready for the next one. I'm also coming off an injury that has made consistant training difficult which always takes more out of one's body. Having taken BioBuild now for several months, I find that I'm able to do back-to- back hard workouts much more easily. This weekend I did a 70 mile hard mountain climbing ride and followed that on Sunday with an 11 mile high quality run.

    Question For The Dr.

I definitely feel stronger and after a run my legs are not exhausted. This morning did an easy 40 minute run and then rode hills at noon for 1 hour and felt great. I have been playing with the dosage, today took 4 at 5am prior to run and then 4 right after my ride. I weigh 170, so could probably up the dosage. Yesterday at master swim, took 2 before and 2 after and finished strong. I am almost 53 and tend to get injuries, so fingers are crossed this will help reduce these. Q. Is it the protein that helps fight injuries? Do you recommend MAP with any other product?

    A. The protein makes it possible for your body to heal after the stress of exercise. MAP is so efficient, compared to normal dietary proteins that is works more completely and faster. Great on your progress. And enjoy! Make sure you are taking* minerals, especially magnesium, about a1000 mg a day. If you get loose bowels lower the dose. And antioxidants, Vit C,E,A. And I would also add some Carlsons fish oil, one tablespoon per day.- D.I. Minkoff, M.D.

This is great information, thanks. Saturday I rode for 26 miles and then ran easy 2 miles. Yesterday, was only a touch sore, yet ran for 6 miles and finished strong. Today, feel great and my legs feel good enough to run. Both days, 5 pills prior to and after. What is so amazing, usually my legs are dead after this type of workout and my quads would be screaming at me. Not now. Thanks so much.

    Lipoic Acid

Ever heard of Lipoic acid? Here is some useful information about a new form of it.

Lipoic acid is one of the most potent antioxidants in the body. It can eat up more types of free radicals than any other known antioxidant and it can recycle Vitamins E, C, CoQ10, and glutathione. This means that after these vitamins have done their job to quench a free radical, the Lipoic acid can recycle them so it can work again on new free radicals and eliminate it. Lipoic acid is also a heavy metal chelator and can remove mercury, lead, cadmium, and arsenic from the body.

The other known functions of Lipoic acid are that it can protect against radiation toxicity (from Xrays, mammograms, CT Scans and radiotherapy for cancer), it has a healing effect on the blood vessel and nerve damage that occurs from Diabetes, it can protect against ear damage from antibiotics, it protects the liver from chemical toxins and poisons. It is the only known cure for amanita mushroom poisoning.

Perhaps most importantly, Lipoic acid can protect the mitochondria in our cells. The mitochondria is a small area of the cell where the energy is produced. Lipoic acid can actually restore the function of an aged and damaged mitochondria to youthful levels and thus reverse oxidative degeneration in heart liver, and brain cells.
