The BodyHealth Newsletter The Perfect Amino Acid Design
July 27, 2004

Greetings,

Greetings. Recently the nutritional literature has been supporting the use of protein with carbohydrates for optimum performance. That is why we have been recommending MAP before workouts as well as after. Whey protein takes at least an hour to digest before it can get into your system. Compare that to MAP, which reaches blood levels in 23 minutes. For longer races I recommend taking additional doses of 3-5 tablets during the race every 4 hours. Then your levels stay up and performance will be steady. Safe training. -- D.I. Minkoff

  • Norway User Notes Fast Recovery

I received my latest shipment of three bottles just in time for my Ironman in Germany on July 4 (time: 10:10:46). Even though I am not giving all the credit to MAP, I was surprised to see how fast I could recover from the race (I was taking full doses immediately after the race, and for the first three days). I would like to try another shipment of three bottles as soon as possible. -- E.G, Norway.

Is MAP Appropriate to Take Mid Race?

I have been using MAP for a few months now and really love the results! I have a half Ironman race in 2 weeks and would like to know if some tablets mid-race are appropriate. I'm 210 lbs and take 10 before and after workouts on my long training days. Thanks for your feedback. -- C.G., a grateful customer

    Dear C.G.,
Yes. I would recommend 10 tablets before the race and 5 after the bike portion. This will give you a better run. Of course when you finish, take 10 more to assure a good recovery. Glad you like the results! -- D.I. Minkoff

    Medical Uses of MAP

We have been concentrating on MAP for athletic performance, but a recent success story came in about someone with a serious medical condition who used MAP to help correct her protein nutritional deficiency.

This report is from a doctor who writes:

My patient is a 30-year-old mother of three with Crohn's Disease. [Crohn's Disease is a severe inflammation of the small intestine]. She was unable to eat anything except soaked oats due to her condition. She became protein malnourished and got even worse.

In March, her surgeon said she would have to have a portion of her intestines removed or she was in danger of dying. I started her on MAP and her protein deficiency corrected. She now eats food as well, has normal bowel movements, and a colonoscopy shows her intestine has healed up except for a very small area of inflammation. All credit to MAP -- it turned her around. -- Dr. J.S.

    Latest Winner's Circle Highlight

I just wanted to thank you for exposing me to your new product. I was first introduced to MAP at the Richmond East Coast Championship XTERRA. I took 4th place in my age group there, somewhat disappointed. However, life goes on. The following week I had to test for my 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo.

This test was physically demanding on my
47- year-old body. However, being the athlete I am, I'm pleased to say I passed and proudly wear my new belt. I have to admit that during the final phase of my test, I suffered a major injury to my right arm trying to break a cinder block. I came down on this twice (against my better judgment) and finally broke it with my foot. My arm was swollen for days. I was unable to swim and bike for two weeks because any vibration on the arm hurt too much. I couldn't pull under water. I couldn't hold my handlebars!!

    Proteolytic Enzymes May Accelerate Healing

I am a user of proteolytic enzymes for recovery. (Proteolytic enzymes digest proteins.) I know how well they work. Many professional sports trainers use them after injury, but they also decrease inflammation and improve the healing process. This was reported in the July issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (114, 1:237- 244, 2004) (plasrecon surg.com).

The study subjects were given proteolytic enzymes with antioxidants like grape seed extract, and vitamin C with minerals. The researchers concluded that oral supplementation accelerated soft-tissue wound healing in 77 percent of normal, healthy subjects studied.

This has been my experience also. The brand I have the most experience with is called Vascuzyme. Dosage can vary between 3-5 tablets three times a day on an empty stomach.

These help to reduce soreness and improve healing after hard workouts or injury.

    You can obtain Vascuzyme from
