From Peggy in San Diego: Do you
suggest periods during the year where you don't swim
bike or run at all?
From Dave Scott: Everyone
should have their own definition of leading a healthy
life. Healthy living may encompass physical,
psychological, emotional and spiritual parameters.
Peggy, to measure your health . . .
So Peggy, here is the quick answer:

| Team BodyHealth's Melisa Christian wins Human Race 10K in Austin |
 |
On August 31, 2008 I participated in the inaugural
Nike Human Race10K in Austin, Texas. It was the first
race of my season and I was becoming increasingly
excited in the weeks leading up to race day. A few
days before the race, it finally hit me. This course was
going to be tough and it definitely was going to be a bit
warm. Pre-race jitters began to sink it. Fortunately,
race day was as exciting as I anticipated and I quickly
forgot my initial concerns. There was an amazing
sea
of 13,758 runners all patiently waiting in front of the
state capital for the gun time of 6:30 p.m.

| Alexander Popov Freestyle technique |
 |
Alexander Popov was one of the world's best
swimmers. His technique is amazing to watch. This
slow motion film and explanation of the four phases of
his stroke are really easy to understand. He makes it
look so easy.

Captain Ed's Journal |

|
by Well, after a brutal August where I was only able to
train 8-10 times, September has been a good month
to get back into the groove.
Shortly after returning from our 3 week training
exercise at Fort Campbell, KY and Fort Stewart, GA, I
had less than two weeks to prepare for a sprint
triathlon (500 yd. swim, 13 mile bike, 5k run) that I had
signed up for prior to the training event. I was able to
get back into a nice training rhythm prior to the
triathlon and felt very good going into the race.
I still do not have a road bike (mine is on order), but
was able to borrow one from a friend at work, who just
so happens to have an awesome bike.
The triathlon took place on Hunter Army Airfield (where
I am stationed), and was a very well run event with
close to 180 competitors.
I got out a little slow on the swim in part because
when swimming the final leg of the swim route, I could
not see because the sun was blaring directly into my
eyes. So after finding my way (albeit slowly), I rushed
out of the murky river water towards the transition
area. I quickly transitioned to my bike and took off.
