Greetings,
If you are enjoying the newsletter, please share it with
others. It's how we grow. Here is a little note from
Cherrie Gruenfeld, 9 time IM World Champion and
age group record holder. "In preparing for Kona this
year, I made a few minor changes to my training plan,
taking a bit more rest while still putting together two or
three days of key training back-to-back each week.
Doing this, and being on a regular regime of MAP, I
was able to get in some quality training. And it paid off
with a solid 1st place win and a new course record in
the W65-69. Now I'm using MAP as part of my recovery
plan."
Bravo Bravo Bravo. Can your grandmother do this?
Have
a great week.

UNCLASSIFIEDMAP has always delivered for
me. After long runs, intense interval workouts, or a
marathon through the mountains...MAP is has always
delivered, providing unparalleled recovery. So it is no
surprise that MAP is delivering once again with a
different aspect of my training.
Our food, water and air contain large amounts of
environmental toxins that easily enter our bodies. They
come in through the following routes:

| Dave Scott Question's |
 |
Dear Dave, I usually run with Asics Kayano.
They have great support and are very comfortable.
Asics also makes a racer/trainer called DS trainer.
It's quite a bit lighter but with less support. Do you
think it's worth using the lighter shoe for an IM race or
just stick with my training shoe?
Dave's Answer:
With the leg fatigue from the bike, your stability is
affected on the stance phase of the run. This affects
your support on contact and you need to have
the "normal" muscle recruitment from your foot, calf
and quad muscles. Trying a new shoe is risky due to
the potential instability and added load placed on your
muscular and skeletal system.
I'd stick with the Kayano's! Remember, they feel fast!

Exceptional year for fitness and recovery |
|
|
|
It's that time of year again, Kona is over and with the
exception of a few races another Triathlon year is
over. The morning news today had it snowing in the
northeast and Denver has already had its initial snow
for the year.
I have had an exceptional year for fitness and recovery
and I have to say it's due to my use of MAP and Dr
Minkoff's sage advise. I had the opportunity this year
to move from Tampa, Florida to Tucson, Arizona, both
known as two of the best triathlon training capitals of
the world. However, both offer very different mind sets
and different opportunities.
I had to learn how to really ride mountains in Tucson,
both the ascent and decent (still working on this one).
Florida is essentially flat, and we ride bridges to
get "hill" work in. Boy did my perception of "hill" work
change!! Mt Lemon is 9000 ft! I also got into
mountain biking since moving in August. Mountain
biking is VERY big out here and used a lot for cross
training.
