| COMPLETE TWO IM EVENTS IN ONE WEEK, IMPOSSIBLE? |
 |
When I began to compete in IM, 19 years ago, it
seemed impossible to me to complete ONE Ironman
competition. Not even try to think in doing 2 or 3 in a
year. At the present, I compete in 5 to 10 IM's within a
year. Madness, does not finish at this point, for any
reason or another, I have participated in two IM
competitions with only 6 days difference in two
different continents. But this last time I not only
participated, but competed, and in the two of them I
made less than 11 hours (Arizona 10.49 and Cozumel
10.34). The recurring question is "How do you
recover?"

| Dave Scott Q and A Two Problems - One Solution. |
 |
Dear Dave,
I am an experienced triathlete and am almost 40
years old. The past few years I have developed lower
back and hip pains that are very hard to recover from. I
have also recently been set back by a left hamstring
problem. I have been to doctors, therapists, yoga,
chiropractors, and massage but just can't get rid of the
problems. All of them say that they think that
because "I am a relatively young healthy male" that I
should be able to get rid of most my pain. Any ideas?
Greg?
Hi Dave,
I was wanting your insight into an injury that I
sustained. Specifically, I was wondering if you had
any thoughts about the biomechanics that may have
caused it and what, if anything, more I can do to treat
it?

| Jukka Valkonen of Team BodyHealth/MAP Places 2nd in Age Group at Marin Triathlon |
 |
This year was the second year of the Marin
Triathlon,
an Olympic distance, USAT certified event, held in
beautiful Marin County, California. It's a very cool event
because it's as eco-friendly as a race can be, with
solar electricity, recyclable and compostable products,
etc. It's also focused on charities, so even with a high
entrance fee cost, a competitor can feel pretty good
about the day.

I bought a supply of MAP ( albeit with a bit of
hesitation ) recently and started using it. Followed the
directions and have to say one thing,
" It's fantastic !"
Over the years I have had the opportunity to use, try
and sample, just about everything that looks as
though it will improve my performance and fitness, but
nothing has ever worked and delivered as this product
has. It is without question the easiest and most
effective product I have ever encountered. Everything
from my swim, bike and especially my run has
improved by leaps and bounds. I'm no youngster at
this either, at 51 years of age I'm always looking to
keep my competitive edge without literally killing
myself anymore, and this product just goes to show
that maintaining your fitness and recovering the next
day to do it again and again can be done.
Thanks again,
M.A.

The Next Twelve Months by Cherie Gruenfeld |
|
|
|
It's New Year 's Eve and tomorrow starts a new year
and a new racing season. What lies ahead for each of
us is unknown. However, one thing that many of us do
know with certainty is that we will be training for an
Ironman race during the next twelve months. We know
that because we've already had to commit to, sign-up
and pay for the event.
So what happens once we hit the SEND key on the
computer, knowing that the application is in the
system and this thing is really going to happen?
I've seen a couple of different approaches:
"OMG - I'm doing an Ironman! What am I doing sitting
around? I need to get out and start training!" And he
heads out the door to do intense 100-mile rides and
20-mile runs immediately.
