| Is there a physical marker for longevity? Can you influence it? |
 |
Yes and yes.
The short story is that at the end of each chromosome
there is a protein covering called a telomere.
This protects the end of each chromosome from
damage and from tangling up with the one that is next
to it. Each time the cell divides the telomere becomes
a little shorter. This end piece of the chromosome
acts as a genetic timer. When the telomere gets too
short the end of the chromosome is no longer
protected, it sticks to its partner and can no longer
produce offspring and it can't replace itself when it
dies. This results in aging.

| Most Important Health Question? |
 |
Are you wondering if your energy and health
could be improved? Whether you could feel better? Do
you find it difficult to eat the way you know you should?
Do you wonder if you are getting all the nutrients your
body really needs to preserve your health?
These are appropriate questions for anyone to ask.
You are not alone in wondering about them. It was
exactly these questions that I was asking myself when
I thought, perhaps there is a way to ensure I was
getting at least the minimum of essential nutrients.

Some Safety Tips you may find Lifesaving |
|
|
|
Almost 40 years ago I was teaching Tae Kwon Do at
the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. I was doing my
Junior Year of college abroad and was doing this as a
side job to make ends meet. I was a student of one of
the first Tae Kwon Do masters to come to the US,
Ninth degree Black Belt Master Joe Chung in
Madison, Wisconsin. One evening, in Jerusalem,
while walking down a side street in a not good part of
the city, two guys tried to jump me. My trained in
instincts took over and I lunged at one of them with a
loud yell (and even pulled the punch). He was so
surprised and taken aback, that they both ran in fear.
Knowing how to take care of yourself in a pinch is a
good thing. I ran across some good advice recently
and wanted to pass it along to you. Here are some
emergency tips that could serve you well. I hope you
find them helpful.
It never hurts to be careful.
1 Tip from Tae Kwon Do :
The elbow
is the strongest point
on your body.
If you are close enough to use it,
do!
2. Learned this from a tourist guide
In New Orleans
If a robber asks
for your wallet and/or purse,
DO NOT HAND IT TO HIM
Toss it away from you....
chances are
that he is more interested
in your wallet and/or purse
than you,
and he will go
for the wallet/purse.
RUN LIKE MAD IN THE OTHER DIRECTION!
