Greetings,
I hope this finds you well and your training
progressing smoothly. There is a battle
going on over the use of dietary supplements.
Senator McCain has decided that you need to
be protected from yourself and so wants to
legislate that the FDA will have much more
jurisdiction over what you can and cannot buy
in the way of nutritional supplements. After
a huge outpouring of the public against his
bill, he decided that since this was
unpopular, he would not support his own bill.
We all gave a sigh of relief only to find out
the that major negative provisions of his
bill were to be incorporated into another
bill. How deviously sly Mr. McCain. Please
see the article below and please take action.
Your freedom is at stake and these guys can't
be trusted with it. Lots of other great stuff
this week. Especially please see words of
wisdom from Cherie and Jukka, and some
thoughts from me too. Have a good one.

The Latest McCain Bill Update
March 16, 2010
There is a great deal of confusion on Capitol Hill and
on the internet about
the status of Senator McCain's mis-named Dietary
Supplement Safety Act, the
anti-supplements bill. Some of this confusion has
been deliberately created
by Senator McCain.
Hundreds of thousands of messages pouring into
Senate offices in support of
supplements have convinced Senator McCain that his
bill is dead. He is
backing away from it. This is your victory. All of you
who sent messages to
the Senate should be very proud of what you have
accomplished. Democracy is
working.

| It's the Shoes! |

"It's the shoes." Many of us will remember
this famous marketing quote by Michael Jordan
for the Nike shoe commercials. Like the
DieHard battery campaign, these Nike
commercials would change not only how the
world thinks of athletic shoes and sneakers,
but how brand management and marketing gurus
would develop their product campaigns and
releases. Seemingly overnight our athletic
shoes transformed into fashion statements and
status symbols. Parents had to work an extra
shift or some kids take another paper route
just to afford "the" shoe, while others
resorted to crime. Even today, in the
poorest, underdeveloped regions, kids turn
down donated shoes and fight over others.

Klammer burst out of the start like a
wild man. He took the first third of the
nearly two-mile long course in desperate
fashion, constantly opening his tuck as he
was flung into the air like a flailing rag
doll over the jumps, his skis clattering over
the jarring ice. He ran the first half of the
course in 1:13:24, a dangerous :10 behind
leader Bernhard Russi of Switzerland. He took
still more chances in the next section and
slipped even further behind.

Getting Older and Wiser and Fitter |
|
|
|
I am coming up on 62 years old. But to my
amazement, while some may argue that I am not
getting any wiser, the stats show I am
getting fitter. Two weeks ago I ran a 15k
race and was 4 minutes (!!) faster than last
year. This week, my 1650 time in the pool was
the fastest it's been in at least ten years.
This is not to brag. It's only to say that
things are possible which at first glance or
with common sense, seem not.
It got me thinking. . .why?
What am I doing that changed the downward
spiral that I was not enjoying for the past
10 years?
Here are my successful
actions. Perhaps they will help you too.
I had been mostly a
vegetarian since age 14. It was then, as a
Boy Scout, they took us on field trip to
visit the Oscar Meyer Meat Company. The home
factory is located in my home town of Madison
Wisconsin . When I saw the conveyer belt
killing the cows and pigs and then saw the
vats of slush that went into hot dogs, I saw
the light
