I am a 56 year old age group athlete, a USAT
coach and a USA cycling coach, as well as a working
parent. My time for training is limited and I have to
make each training session count. This means that
for me, nutrition and recover is a key element to a
successful racing and training year. MAP has been a
key ingredient for me for the last few years.

| Q and A with Dave Scott |
 |
From Scott: Dear Dave, I get "salt
rings' on my clothes after working out. Should I be
concerned? Thanks, Scott.
From Dave Scott: "Salt Rings" on your
clothes may simply be symptomatic of your synthetic
clothing - not necessarily an excess in amount of fluid
or salt loss..

Hi.
I heard you recommend 21 tablets per day for a 120lb
athlete that is recovering from injuries. You said that
this would provide for all of her protein needs. I am
also an 120lb triathlete recovering from an injury and
have this question: Is that amount based on NO other
protein sources? Using the metabolic typing diet, I
was found to need to have most of (70%) of my
calories come from protein and fat. Thus, I consume
most of my calories from meats, nuts, eggs, cheese.
And I eat a lot! Would you suggest that
I also need 30 tablets per day? Right now, I take
about 6 per day. Sharon
Dear Sharon,
The maximum dose of MAP is . . .

Watch in amazement as a Chinese ballet company

when the prima ballerina balances effortlessly on her

The Season Is Upon Us |

How can it be here already? It seems like just
yesterday we were happily munching through all those
holiday goodies not worried about the few extra
pounds that would surely appear. What? How long
ago was that? Just a few months - seems like only a
few weeks you say.
This year's unseasonably cold weather has put a
wrench in many a days training plans - pools
closed..too cold for us Florida babies to bike if it's less
than 40 degrees..Well, guess what. The major early
spring road races have come and gone and the few
very early season Tri's have already passed.
The time is HERE! The Florida Gulf temp is a chilly 63
degrees but some of us braved it today for a long
open water swim. MIT, one of the seasons BIG
opening races is next weekend. Time to get those
cobwebs off the gear bags, brush off those racing flats
and remember what to do in transition!
Early races can be somewhat disconcerting no matter
how many years you have raced. It seems like every
year I make some stupid mistake at that first race. So
lets talk about that some. Time to get the mental
gears working and get the rust off. The week before
the race get ALL your gear together and lay it out.
Make sure you have goggles for sunny and rainy
weather (translated into clear and smoky lens
goggles). Check out those . . .
