Greetings,
Greetings! This weekend at the Sports Expo
for the St Anthony's triathlon I spoke to a
health care practitioner who was a vegetarian
since birth. She was exhausted after her
second child and only recovered after she
began eating meat and fish. If you are a
vegetarian, you don't have to eat meat, but
you do need to take MAP. Your athletic
performance will get better and better. Now
and in the future. In fact, by taking MAP,
you guarantee that your future health and
stamina will be better than it is now. I know
this because we get the stories from
customers every day. Have a great week and
train safe.

Today during St. Anthony's Triathlon I saw a
couple of people running with no shoes. I
went to a local store that sells the no shoes
Vibram 5 Fingers to inquire about them and
they said they are sold out and the company
is backordered until July or August. It's a
phenom. Here from DrMirkin.com is a very
interesting report on this topic.

| Sea to summit + IRONMAN in the same week. . . |
 |
This is the first of two parts of my new
adventure. I am going to climb Mount
Kilimanjaro and finish the IRONMAN South
Africa in the same week. . . The big challenge of
this will be to climb the Kilimanjaro (almost
20,000 ft) in one day and do the IRONMAN of
South Africa in less than 10:30 hours. All
this IN THE SAME WEEK!
Yes, I love Ironman competitions, and you can
say because my 62 participations in the last
19 years, and lately, has being claimed with
the idea of climbing the 7 highest summits of
the 7 continents of the world:

| Train like a PRO |
 |

I have had the opportunity this Spring to
watch several PROs train here in Tucson, not
only in the sport of triathlon but also in
cycling, and swimming. You might say "well
that is part of triathlon", but not for these
folks.
Having competed in the sport of triathlon for
10 years now, and having coached athletes at
all levels for 6 of those years, I thought I
knew a thing or two regarding the mental
aspects of training. What I learned this
spring is how much I still had to learn. The
singular focus and dedication with which
these folks train at is awe inspiring to be
part of. They create their own energy - and
yes, it's a positive energy. Most of their
"training" is done alone or with a single
training partner that they have a
relationship of trust with. The
"competition" of training is left out of the
equation completely and saved for race day
only. Every training session has a purpose,
and their dedication and focus on that single
purpose drives them like a steam locomotive.

| I started taking your MAP about 3 weeks ago and . . . |
 |
|
Dr. Minkoff,
I've been training most of my life - Jr. High
and high school swim team, cross country, and
track as well as some college cross country
and then started triathlons in 1987.
Being a new dad in my early 40's and still
trying to compete at somewhat of a
competitive level I've been looking for
nutrition and supplements to help.
I started taking your MAP about 3 weeks ago
and have never felt better in my life. Maybe
when I was 22 possibly, but by breathing and
recovery have really improved and wanted to
let you know you found a believer.
Being a huge Dave Scott fan, I signed up for
your newsletter, but held off on the MAP
until I signed up for the Colfax Marathon a
month or so ago.
I just wanted to send you a note.
Thanks,
Steve

Fit to be Fast on the Bike |

While there are many draws towards training
for and competing in multi-sport events, one
fun factor is the never-ending opportunity to
tweak our form, nutrition and gear. The bike
is no exception. Since the early '80s
triathletes have had a never-ending demand
for new technology and products, and better
understanding of how to go fast more
efficiently. Or have we? In this article
we'll take a look at the 3 "fits" that are
needed towards cycling efficiency.
We've seen many men and women on time trial
bikes, grimacing, looking tense, with bodies
curled up and elbows so together that you
wonder whether they have a sternum. Was it
some joke of an evil trainer or bike shop
technician that suggested that position for
them? Maybe. But most likely it was the racer
who cooked it up after watching some Tour de
France time trialist like Fabian Cancellera
tear the clock off the wall. As triathletes
and duathletes, we need to understand and
acknowledge that the time trialing in our
sports is not the same time trialing in pro
cycling.
