Current research studies are finding that many of
today's diseases and health problems are linked to
an over-burden of toxins in the body. We live in a
polluted environment where our food, air and water
are contaminated with hundreds of heavy metals that
easily pass into our digestive tract to invade us.
Leading the charge in the toxic army are the heavy
metals, which comprise; lead, mercury, aluminum,
antimony, arsenic, barium, beryllium, bismuth,
bromine, cadmium, nickel, thallium, tin and uranium.

| Triathlon Season is Upon Us - Give it a Try! |
 |
My first race of the season, South Beach
Triathlon, was this past weekend. While I was racing
in my first pro race, many others were getting their
season started at Oceanside 70.3, the inaugural New
Orleans 70.3, IM Australia and IM South Africa. It was a
big weekend for racing and just the start of another
great year in triathlon. Natascha Badmann, at the age
of 41, won in New Orleans with a blistering bike split.
After losing his goggles, having an asthma attack on
the swim and nearly tossing in the towel, Matty Reed
won at Oceanside by well over a minute and half.
Chrissie Wellington went under 9 hours down under.
And in South Beach, hundreds of people lined up to
race their first triathlon next to many physically
challenged athletes inspiring us all.

| Sleep Your Way to Better Health |
 |
By,
Jukka Valkonen, RN, PHN
As we age, "sleeping like a baby" becomes a
metaphor less commonly used. Stressors in life and
hormonal changes affect our sleep patterns. There
may be times when we awake after "sleeping all
night", but did we? Through this two part series we'll
take a closer look at the topic of sleep, how much is
optimal, and some things to consider to ensure
we're "ready for sleep."
During childhood, through adolescence and into
young adulthood, our bodies are wonderful chemical
factories. There are many times when these
chemicals, many of which are hormones, seem to
make our life and our parents' lives miserable.
However, during sleep, the hormones and chemicals
are busy repairing our bodies, creating opportunities
for growth, and cleansing.

Ironman as a Day of Crisis Management.
By
Cherie Gruenfeld IM Age Group World Champion and
BodyHealth Team Member
There are some things about an Ironman race you
can anticipate: It's possible to lose your goggles
while taking a kick in the head during the chaos of the
swim. On the bike a flat or a mechanical problem is a
constant threat and you can discover during the run
that your well thought-out nutrition plan has gone awry.
These are all things we hope to avoid, but it's been
proven time and again that good pre-race planning
and a positive attitude can help an athlete through
these frustrating situations.
