I am not a fan of Hydroxycut. In fact, I think it's the
wrong thing to do for weight loss. Our product,
Healthy Thin, is better and when
combined with MAP
and our weight reduction diet,
Hydroxycut doesn't hold a candle - if you want to
be really anabolic while you lose the fat.
However, the very popular product has been taken by
tens of millions of people for over seven years. Yet
because of one death and a couple dozen cases of
liver disease the FDA recalled the product. Motive?
The FDA decided the public had to be protected. Never
mind that prescription medications are the fourth
leading cause of death in the US, that at least 106,000
per year die from taking them, and that at least 2
million a year are injured by medication reactions, or
that the COX 2 inhibitor Vioxx was calculated to have
killed at least 60,000 people and yet considered safe
by the FDA. Or vaccines, what is the autism toll? How
irksome!

How many miles a week running is optimum for
IM training for a
master's age group athlete? What about bike?
From Dave Scott: Masters athletes
considering an IM should consider previous training
history including monthly volume, recovery from
sessions, vulnerability to injuries and motivation.
Volume is not the only consideration when designing
an optimal IM program.

| Dave Scott Training Weekend Winner Announced |
 |
There was a surprising turn of events when the
winner of the recent BodyHealth.com drawing was
announced. The lucky winner is Jane Michalek of
Carrollton, MD and her prize is of a personal training
weekend with six-time Ironman World Champion
Dave Scott plus a case of Master Amino Acid Pattern
(MAP)®. Jane's name was one of 13,000 names
entered into the drawing and although thrilled with her
win, Jane felt the weekend with Dave Scott would be
better suited to a more strenuously training athlete.

Just wanted to let you know that MAP came
through for me again. I did Wildflower last weekend. I
hadn't done that race since 2001, so I wasn't sure how
I'd handle the tough course 8 years later. But things
went very well. My goal was 6:30. I finished in 6:12,
winning the age group and breaking the course record
by an hour and two minutes. I even beat the 60-64 and
all but 1st place in 55-59 and 50-54. During the run,
memories of running that course came flooding back
to me as I remembered how much easier it was 8
years ago, but clearly I'm still in the game!!
Thanks again for all your support.
Cherie Gruenfeld 8 Time Ironman Age Group world
Champion
I had great a great race in St Croix, despite a flat tire. I
won my age group by 18 minutes. My run was about
1:35 w/o transitions Very hot and windy. Perfect test for
Kona. I'm on the comeback trail. Thank you for the
support!!! MAP is the best!

"The Horses are on the Track" - The Half Marathon |

Many triathletes often miss the opportunity to improve
their game by breaking their racing down into
individual events. Some are concerned that this may
distract them and their training objectives for a
triathlon, while others aren't sure how to fit such an
event into their busy training, racing, and life schedule.
Swimming and cycling events may be harder to find
and enter depending on the location and season.
However, running events are ubiquitous, and the half
marathon is the perfect distance for any triathlete who
competes in sprint, Olympic, 70.3, and even Ironman.
Often I am asked, "What pace will you run your half
marathon?" My response, "Flat out." In a competitive
half marathon, the "race horses" are holding their
pace around 5 min/mile. This is the pace my
hometown buddy Crosby Freeman maintains for wins
like the San Francisco Half Marathon.
