THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY

    by Luis Alvarez

In every Inaugural IM, expectations of odd issues may arise. However, you never expect a life threaten. This IM UK has some god things but some big mistakes to.
But, let's start with The Good.

Is Constipation A Threat To Your Life?

If you have fewer than two bowel movements a day, you can be described as 'constipated' and your body may be filling with toxic debris.

A constipated person can be poisoned by their own waste, a state known as autointoxication. Even short- term constipation is not good.

Indigestion, gas, bloating, allergies and hay fever, arthritis, and even colon cancer may be signs of autointoxication caused by constipation.

Colon cancer is a major concern as it is second only to lung cancer in causing cancer death in the U.S.

    What's The Answer?

Dr. David Minkoff will be hosting a free teleconference addressing this critical condition and describing what you can do about it.

    Date: Thursday, September 17, 2009.
    Time: Noon, EST.

    Free Speed - T1 and T2

Recently I have had the opportunity to "give back" a little to the triathlon community and volunteer at some races. As in most things in life, you can learn as much by watching as by doing.

With as much time and money that triathletes spend in this sport, I found myself wondering why people don't practice their transitions. Just scan down the list in any sprint or Olympic triathlon race and look at the podium times. In most cases, especially in the more competitive age groups mere seconds can separate 1st from 5th place. Those seconds are precious. I lost out on a KONA slot by 21 seconds in a full Ironman race. Who says those seconds aren't precious!

Think you can ride a bike?

I doubt if you've ever seen anyone do this on a bike. Its amazing.

Energy - Keep Your Motor Running!

    By, Jukka Valkonen, R.N., P.H.N.

With our previous series, we've learned how to sleep better and what physiologic energy is. With this series, we'll learn some methods for applying the knowledge gained in order to prepare us physically and mentally for activity and sustain our activity levels.

As we progress through this, key terms and concepts that we need to consider:

    * The various hormones our bodies produce and utilize are cyclical throughout the day and night. Some of these hormones aid with recovery, healing, and growth, while others are associated with stressful situations.

    * Our bodies are not very efficient with breaking down the foods we eat and storing them as energy. In other words, it takes energy to store energy.
