Master Amino Acid Pattern (MAP) Winner's Circle Lou Cookson
Winner at Ironman Canada (age group 55-59)
I wanted to write and thank you for helping me win the M55-59 age bracket at Ironman Canada on August 28th.
I have been using MAP for the past year to speed my recovery after workouts but I decided to do something different for this Ironman Canada race. I decided to use MAP at regular intervals and the sports drink and gels they were handing out at the aid stations rather then carrying three bottles of a sports drink that contained protein with me. Changing your nutrition plans at the last minute is a major no-no, but, I decided that since I have been taking MAP on a regular basis for recovery my body is use to it and, carrying a few pills is a lot easier then carrying four pounds of sport drink up and over the hills on this course. I also used MAP during the marathon rather then carrying a fuel belt with the protein sport drink. I believe that taking in protein is necessary during a race but foods with high concentrations of protein are not available in anything that is given out at the aid stations.
The result was that my bike split by over 15 minutes faster then anyone else in my age group and I used this to coast to a 13 minute victory in my age bracket. You can bet that I will be using this same nutrition plan when I compete at the world championships in Hawaii on October 15 .
Thank you very much, Lou Cookson

Editor Note: What Lou did during the race with MAP is very important. During the stress of the race amino acids are very helpful and will improve your race. I suggest you take 5 tablets every 4 hours during the race. Of course take 10 before and 10 after to speed recovery. DM
