Dear Dave,

I recall years back the stories about what you ate. Washing cottage cheese, etc. What is your current diet? What would be a typical breakfast, lunch, dinner snacks?

I notice from the photos that you still look very lean and very fit and at least 15 years younger that you are. Do you count calories? Do you keep track of your body fat percentage?

Your insights in this area would be very helpful.

Dave's Reply:

Carl, Here's a quick update:

•  I have not eaten cottage cheese for 22 years! Rinsing reduced the sodium and fat content and ABC was seemingly was interested in this odd behavior. I've been labeled by the telecast for 22 years!!

•  I eat chicken, turkey (1 x per week) and fish (salmon or tuna) 1x per week. My diet is still predominately plant based. Lots of beans, greens and fruit.

•  My body weight is higher (5 lbs.) than 1994, but I still stay relatively lean.

•  I eat nuts everyday – predominately walnuts, almonds and peanut butter sandwiches.

•  Lots of olive oil everyday on main dishes or salads.

•  Only 10% of refined sugar daily.

•  Of course MAP and an assortment of supplements on a daily basis:

•  Vitamin E – 400 iu, Selenium 100 mcg, Vitamin B12 400 mcg, B Complex 100 mg, Vitamin C 500 mg, Alpha Lipoic acid 50 mg, zinc 35 mg, MSM 1000 mg, DHA/EPA Omega 3's 3000 mg, Chondrotin & Glucosimine 1500 mg.
