Protein for Detoxification
A person with a diet deficient in protein (amino acids) will have a detox system that does not perform at its highest level. To maintain health, the detox system must be in full force to protect one from the daily contact of environmental toxins and especially during any detox program.
The detoxification pathways in the liver are based on a two phase system, that require amino acids to work. These systems are enzymes (made of amino acids). Low protein/amino acid intake may mean low enzyme levels.
Phase one is an enzyme system called Cytochrome P450. These enzymes require the three amino acid combo called gluatathione, and another amino acid N acetylcysteine to function. Other nutrients such as B2 (riboflavin), niacin, magnesium, iron, and indoles from cruciferous vegetables, and quercitin will support phase 1.
In phase 2, the three amino acid glutathione, and amino acids glycine, glutamine, methionine, taurine, glutamic acid, and aspartic acid are essential. Again, low levels of dietary protein will mean low levels of these amino acids and lowered function.
Normally, the biggest load of toxins coming into the body are from the food we eat and water that we drink. After absorption in the intestine these toxins go to the liver to be eliminated BEFORE they get to the other critical organs where they could damage the heart, brain, lungs, kidneys, etc. Lowered detox function means when these toxins enter the body through the intestine, the liver may not be able to eliminate them and they will get to other tissues and cause damage.
To ensure a fully active detox system one should use Master Amino Acid Pattern (MAP) as an amino acid supplement. MAP uniquely supplies all the essential amino acids in proper ratio to ensure maximum detoxification pathway health.
Thus a solid foundation for detoxification should be:
1. BodyHealth Complete + Detox supplying all the essential vitamins, minerals, anti oxidants and liver detoxification cofactors
2. MAP supplying the aminoacids/proteins, essential to liver detoxification
3. Body Detox or Metal Free to help the body target the heavy metals, chemicals and pesticides for elimination, while enhancing immunity and intestinal function.
Then one can heal.
