My progress in transforming to a long distance athlete seems to be preceding nicely, thanks my use of the MAP product. As I wrote previously, I am preparing for the ITU World Long Course Duathlon Championships in Gee! Belgium on August 10.
My two previous trips to the Duathlon World Championships have been in the short course event, for which my training averaged 60-70 miles per week cycling and 15-20 mites running. With this year's long course race consisting of a 20K run, 80K bike and a 10K run, I am boosting my training up to 100 miles per week cycling and 30 miles/wk running.
Diet and recovery have become more important than ever with this increase in training load. Using the MAP product has enabled me to engage in active recovery workouts the day after a four hour brick (bike/run) workout, where in the past I would have been doing that recovery from the recliner!
With a heavy training month under my belt I decided to compete in a sprint triathlon this past weekend to test my fitness level. As usual I swam slow, biked hard but the real surprise was my speed in the final run. a 5K I ran with fresher muscles than ever before! Even my 50 mile recovery ride the next day included some quality work for a change!
1 am convinced that MAP will continue to help me sustain the extra training load and get me to the worlds ready to perform my best! Thanks again for the product.
