Keeping track with the series of articles about the way I have been improving my Ironman racing speed in the last 17 years, today I want to share with you the method I use for running, its call “Pose Method”

It's common to think that we do not need to learn how to run because it is something we do naturally, not like swimming for example that if we do not learn the technique we are not going to be able to get anywhere! Anyone can run, but run efficiently, well that is another story… and let me tell you, if there is something you need to have in an Ironman is a very efficient run, is at this last discipline where the places are determined.

I began participating in marathons more than 20 years ago and my PR was 3:45. A couple of months ago I accomplished a PR of 3:32 at the marathon but I was doing the Brazil Ironman!

What have I been doing different?

I learned how to run with the Pose Method. I know there is no absolute truth in regard of running techniques but it worked extraordinarily well for me, this is the way kids run naturally until they reach 12 years old…

I am not pretending that after you read this article you are able to run with the Pose Method, I will only mention the very basics:

Some other running methods teaches you to run landing with the heel as your first support and then pushing yourself forward with the leg, the Pose Method is based on the use of gravity, leaning yourself forward and landing with the ball of the foot (metatarsus), flexing the knee without placing this in front of your body, the steps will have to be shorter but faster.

With this method not only I have been able to improve my speed but I haven't had any injuries since I practice it.
