Why Do We Need Protein? Is My Diet Enough To Keep Me Optimized?

Since most of the body's proteins are continually broken down, the body needs to manufacture thousands of proteins every day to replace them.

The body uses the amino acids obtained from dietary protein or amino acid supplements to build the body's proteins which become the structural foundation of the body and the molecules that sustain life .

Amino acids that cannot be made by the body are called essential amino acids and must be obtained from dietary protein or amino acid supplements. A daily supply of all the essential amino acids in the correct proportion is necessary for normal protein synthesis.

Adequate protein/amino acid intake is required to maintain or normalize cellular turnover and to optimize the body's protein synthesis.

Inadequate protein/amino acid intake due to restricted diets, reduced appetite, illness, skipping meals, poor diet choices, etc., can compromise health and affect for example:

•

bone cell synthesis

•

red blood cell production

•

heart cell turnover rate

•

neurotransmitters/mood

•

sense of well-being/stamina

•

Immune function/antibodies

•

enzymes/hormones

•

skin elasticity/muscle tone

•

organ function/pH balance

•

Mobility/joint integrity, etc.

Even marginal deficiencies can magnify the effect of every disease.

Inadequate protein synthesis results in a loss of function. Most endurance athletes that we have tested in our clinic are protein deficient. When they introduce Master Amino Acid Pattern (MAP) to their already good diets, they get improved recovery and performance.

After just completing a Double Birkebeiner while training on MAP, I am a believer. My strength and endurance were indeed improved and it will be part of my training regimen for the upcoming bike season. - Steve Tilford Professional Bike Racer and World Mountain Bike Champion

MAP has enabled me to sustain an active working life, whilst still being able to race at a competitive level. On my tight schedule, quality workouts with optimal recovery are the key. MAP gives me the way to maintain the strength of my 'muscle memory' from years of training and racing, without a full time workout schedule, and gives me the confidence of a strong immune system. - Paula Newby-Fraser World Champion Triathlete

I am a 66 year old triathlete with 13 years in the sport. Recently, I attended a Tri Camp in Florida and used MAP for the first time that week. I was a bit nervous about trying something new, so I took only half the number of tablets recommended.

I had a great week of intensive training - about 30 hours total, 300 miles bike, 7500 meters swim, 25 miles run. This is about double my usual training week, and I felt full of energy each day. S.I.
